DermaZinc® is used as a Three-Step Treatment. In order to achieve maximum results, it is important to follow instructions on how DermaZinc® is applied and maintained.

IMPORTANT: Please consult a health care professional to decide what is the right approach for you.

STEP ONE: DermaZinc® OTC

For Mild To Moderate Chronic Skin Conditions

Apply DermaZinc® OTC Product to affected area 1 to 3 times a day - for 2 to 3 weeks. When affected area is cleared, maintain skin's natural health by applying DermaZinc® OTC 2 times a day/3 days a week (see STEP 3).

IMPORTANT: Do not apply to thin skin areas or mucous membranes.

Pregnant or nursing women should consult a doctor before using.

Unfortunately, there is no cure for eczema and psoriasis, which is why it is important to maintain your cleared skin as directed in STEP 3. We also recommend using our Gentle Cleansing Bar Soap and Shampoo - which delivers the moisture your skin needs to stay healthy. We welcome you to call us with questions, our customer service team will help you decide which products will deliver the best results for you.

Remember: If condition reoccurs, you may safely repeat STEP 1 with the same effective results.

For difficult to control cases, where DermaZinc® OTC Products were not effective, we recommend you try STEP 2.

FOR DIFFICULT TO CONTROL CASES, IT IS SUGGESTED THAT PATIENTS CONSULT THEIR PHYSICIAN ABOUT THE USE OF PRESCRIPTION STRENGTH DERMAZINC®.  ALWAYS CONSULT A PROFESSIONAL BEFORE USE.

For Severe Chronic Skin Conditions

Apply Prescription Strength DermaZinc® Products (Compounded with Micronized Betamethasone Dipropionate USP) to affected area 2 times a day for a maximum of 14 days.

CONTRAINDICATIONS: Micronized Betamethasone Dipropionate USP is contraindicated in those patients with a history of hypersensitivity to any of the components of the preparation.

PRECAUTIONS: General: Micronized Betamethasone Dipropionate USP is a highly potent topical costeroid that has been shown to suppress the hypothalamic-pituitary adrenal (HPA) axix. Systemic absorption of topical corticosteroids can produce reversible HPA axix suppression with the potential for glucocorticosteroid insufficiency after withdrawal from treatment. Manifestations of Cushing's syndrome, hyperglycemia, and glucosuria can also be produced in some patients by systemic absorption of topical corticosteroids while on therapy. Pregnant or nursing women should consult a doctor before using this compound. If irritation develops, discontinue use and consult your doctor. This product should not be used in the treatment of rosacea or perioral dermatitis.

ADVERSE REACTIONS: In controlled trials with all Micronized Betamethasone Dipropionate USP Formulations the following adverse reactions have been reported: burning/stinging, pruritis, irritation, erythema, folliculitis, cracking and fissuring of the skin, numbness of the fingers, tenderness in the elbow, skin atrophy and telangiectasia. The following additional local adverse reactions are reported infrequently with topical corticosteriods, but may occur more frequently with super-high potency corticosteriods such as DermaZinc® compounded with Micronized Betamethasone Dipropionate USP: dryness, hypertrichosis, allergic contact dermatitis, secondary infection, striae and miliaria.

OVERDOSAGE: Topically applied Micronized Betamethasone Dipropionate USP used in long term, continuous treatment can be absorbed in sufficient amounts to produce systemic effects. To prevent overdosage, follow treatment instructions STEP 2 and STEP 3 carefully.
