BRIEF SUMMARY: FOR TOPICAL DERMATOLOGIC USE ONLY

NOT FOR OPHTHALMIC, ORAL OR INTRAVAGINAL USE

CONTRAINDICATIONS: Micronized Betamethasone Dipropionate is contraindicated in those patients with a history of hypersensitivity to any of the components of the preparation.

PRECAUTIONS: General: Micronized Betamethasone Dipropionate is a highly potent topical costeroid that has been shown to suppress the hypothalamic-pituitary adrenal (HPA) axix. Systemic absorption of topical corticosteroids can produce reversible HPA axix suppression with the potential for glucocorticosteroid insufficiency after withdrawal from treatment. Manifestations of Cushing's syndrome, hyperglycemia, and glucosuria can also be produced in some patients by systemic absorption of topical corticosteroids while on therapy. Pregnant or nursing women should consult a doctor before using this compound. If irritation develops, discontinue use and consult your doctor. This product should not be used in the treatment of rosacea or perioral dermatitis.

ADVERSE REACTIONS: In controlled trials with all Micronized Betamethasone Dipropionate Formulations the following adverse reactions have been reported: burning/stinging, pruritis, irritation, erythema, folliculitis, cracking and fissuring of the skin, numbness of the fingers, tenderness in the elbow, skin atrophy and telangiectasia. The following additional local adverse reactions are reported infrequently with topical corticosteriods, but may occur more frequently with super-high potency corticosteriods such as DermaZincTM compounded with Micronized Betamethasone Dipropionate: dryness, hypertrichosis, allergic contact dermatitis, secondary infection, striae and miliaria.

OVERDOSAGE: Topically applied Micronized Betamethasone Dipropionate used in long term, continuous treatment can be absorbed in sufficient amounts to produce systemic effects. To prevent overdosage, follow treatment instructions STEP 2 and STEP 3 carefully.
