DermaZinc Advanced Formula
W/ Micronized Betamethasone Dipropionate USP
Compounding Instructions:
Spray:
Add 64mg of Micronized Betamethasone Dipropionate
USP directly to a 4 oz. (120ml) bottle of DermaZinc
Spray (wt = 100gm), estimated 6 months stability
when compounded. Instruct patient to shake well
before using & keep away from extreme heat.
Cream:
Levigate 77mg of Micronized Betamethasone Dipropionate
USP with a small amount of Glycerin or Mineral Oil
and mix into a 4 oz. (120gm) jar of DermaZinc Cream,
or add 6 cc of stock solution (see below) to 120
gm jar of DermaZinc Cream. Estimated 6 months stability
when compounded.
Shampoo:
Whisk 144mg of Micronized Betamethasone Dipropionate
USP into a 8 oz. (240ml) bottle of DermaZinc Shampoo,
or add 11cc of stock solution (see below) to 240ml
bottle of DermaZinc Shampoo, estimated 6 months
stability when compounded. Instruct patient to shake
well before each use.

scale cannot weigh small quantities?
If
your balance can not weigh small amounts, dissolve
640mg of Micronized Betamethasone Dipropionate USP
into 50cc of 99% isopropyl alcohol 12.8mg stock
solution =1cc. Add 5cc of this to 120cc DermaZinc
Spray, or 6cc to DermaZinc Cream (120gm) or 11cc
to DermaZinc Shampoo (240ml) A better way to treat
the scalp is to use DermaZinc shampoo in conjunction
with DermaZinc w/ Betamethasone Dipropionate USP
product using the dropper tip. The rational is that
the Rx Shampoo is washed out quickly whereas you
massage in the drops. Estimated stability once compounded
is six months. Estimated stock solution stability
is one year from date of compounding.
How
come when I calculate the formula my answer is different?
Each
gram of finished product contains 0.64mg Micronized
Betamethasone Dipropionate USP is equivalent to
0.5mg of Micronized Betamethasone USP
